BOYS & GIRLS CLUB VISIT

The Ranger Foundation of Greenbriar Farm in Keedysville, Maryland, hosted a Boys and Girls Club day at the farm on Wednesday, July 13, 2005.   The kids arrived that morning aboard a Washington County Boys and Girls Club bus.  Upon arrival, they were given a hay ride tour of the farm.

The next couple of hours was spent at “Horse School” where the boys and girls learned all about horses and their care.  One of the retired horses, Ebby, was very willing to help with the grooming lesson.  He also very patiently allowed the children to stick labels of the different parts of a horse to the appropriate place on him.

Lunch was a cookout under the trees in the picnic area.  The food was donated by Wal-Mart, Martin’s Potato Chips, and the Ranger Foundation volunteers.

The day ended with games and prizes.  Everyone went home with a colorful horse show ribbon for their success in Horse School.  As the group boarded the bus for home, plans were already in motion for the next such event.
