The Rosey Cheeks Volunteer Award

2009

We are happy to announce the winner of this year's Purple Pitchfork of Honor.  For those unfamiliar with this highly coveted award, we have given it each April to the volunteer who came the most times over the cold winter (we start keeping track in October).  Originally the award was given on April Fool's day and is also known as the Rosy Cheeks Award (aka Frozen Fanny).    The winner receives a purple pitchfork with a brass plaque to thank them for their hard work.

This year we had a tie!
The Award went to Volunteers Tami and Karen.

2008

This year's recipient is a two-time winner!   Congratulations!  and thanks to:    Volunteer Tami.

2007

The winner of this year's Purple Pitchfork (volunteer of the year) this year was Volunteer Tami.  She has been the morning feeder and helper all winter -- often more than 4 times a week!   Tami got the fork with engraved nameplate and a book about veterinary care of horses.    The student volunteer of the year was volunteer Ruthie.

Thanks for all that you have done for Ranger and our horses!

And the 2006 Award goes to
Volunteer Chante

Presented by Ann Corcoran, Pres.

Volunteer Chante (pictured center with fork) was awarded The Ranger Foundation's 2006 Purple Pitchfork of Honor at Nutters Ice Cream in Sharpsburg on Tuesday, April 4th.   This 4th annual award goes to the volunteer who has braved the winter weather for the most number of hours to help care for the retired horses owned by the Ranger Foundation at Greenbriar Farm in Keedysville.

This year Ranger recognized a junior volunteer who spent the most time caring for the horses and that award went to...

Volunteer Cecea!

Volunteer Chante received the special purple fork with a brass plate stating, "with gratitude to Chante".  She also was given a framed photograph of her favorite horse, Ebby.  Chante's daughter Cecea (pictured front with puppet) was the hardest working youngster throughout the winter and she received a Ranger T-shirt and a horse puppet.

The first Rosey Cheeks Award (2003) went to Diana Mullendore (now Ranger's V.P.)  The second year the Rosey Cheeks Award went to Lynn DiCarlo.  The 2005 Award was awarded to Volunteer Chesley.

The Purple Pitchforks hang in the barn and are available for anyone to use ...  but if the recipient is present, that honored person has first dibs on the special fork.
