In
October of 2002 and again in 2003 the Ranger Foundation hosted
our Geriatric Jubilee horse show in an effort to showcase
horses over 18 years old. We believe that no matter how old
or infirm a horse may be, he or she can be bathed and groomed
and dolled-up and pampered and paraded, thus our Grooming
and Showmanship classes, one for young people and one for
adults were our premiere classes.
The
turnout was wonderful and the praise we received from riders
who had long since turned their darling show horse out to
pasture was heartening. Some great show horses and some just-old-pets
competed in classes geared for their physical condition. Besides
Grooming and Showmanship there were pleasure classes, trail
class, jumping (less than 18 inches!) and a big favorite,
costume class. We even had a stick horse class for the youngest
riders.

great the horses looked!
